YOUR CHILDREN’S SAFETY IS OUR BUSINESS!
The highest priority as school bus drivers is safety, the safety & well-being of the students that we transport.
The following information is provided to promote & enhance the student’s safety in & around the school bus.
DANGER ZONE
Over 90% of all school bus fatalities occur outside of the school bus. Educate your children to never, under any circumstances, for any reason enter the danger zones illustrated.
LOADING/UNLOADING
Do not move/walk toward the bus until the bus comes to a COMPLETE stop. BE SEATED PROMPTLY
Do not stand on the bus until the bus comes to a COMPLETE stop and OPENS THE DOORS.
AWARENESS
Motorist that fail to stop for a school bus loading or unloading students in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania the following minimum penalties apply: $300.00 Fine, Loss of Driver’s License for 30 days, 5 Points on driving record (penalties are greater for CDL drivers)

REMEMBER: Riding the school bus is a privilege!
Failure to comply with the rules of the bus can result in loss of school bus riding privileges.
- Arrive at your bus stop on time (at least 5-10 minutes BEFORE your pickup time)
- Do not approach the bus until it has completely stopped, the red warning lights have stopped traffic, and the driver has opened the entrance door of the bus.
- Keep arms, legs & carry-on articles out of the aisle.
- Remain in seat at all times, facing forward.
- Never distract the driver in any manner – unless an emergency or safety issue occurs.
- Never place any body parts outside of the school bus windows, never throw any objects out of the school bus.
- Always use the handrail at the front of the bus when going up or down the entrance steps.
- Please report any violations immediately to protect our children.
- Educate the children on the location and operation of all emergency exits on the school bus.
- Educate the children on the proper procedures in the event of a fire and or accident.
- Make sure the children know who they are to report any injury on the school bus to.
- Dress younger students in brightly colored clothing to enhance visibility to motorists & the school bus driver.
- Report any torn or damaged seats to the driver for repair.
- Never chase after any objects dropped around the school bus. This has resulted in many tragedies
